Ever felt that numb, and emotionless feeling when going about your day like a Jew?
Well, if you haven't, that's great!
Keep doing what you're doing...
But, I fell like for some of us, this Jewish lifestyle is getting pretty routine.
Waking up, every day (hopefully) to the same old routine,
A lot of times, when Judaism feels routine and boring, we get unmotivated, to keep our game strong.
When we don't have any more feeling towards prayer, Mitzvot, or any of our daily Jewish tasks, it slowly, and sometimes unknowingly gets taken out of our daily schedule.
Judaism was never like this up until this current age.
Think about it,
A couple hundred years ago,
The Baal Shem Tov,
and other holy Rabbis lived their daily Jewish lives with such passion, fire, and love, and they worked on the special, unique connection WITH Gd, every single day, whether it was through daily meditation, prayer, Tzedaka, doing Mitzvot.
Last year, I had the privilege of going to seminary.
It was a Chabad Seminary, and we had unbelievable teachers and classes.
I remember that in one of my classes we were learning about The Baal Shem Tov and why he was brought down to this world.
We learnt that the reason the holy Baal Shem Tov was brought down here was to awaken that generation from the faint, with Chassidus, and prepare the world for Moshiach.
The Jewish people in that time were in a faint, kinda like now, with no feeling, numbness towards Judaism.
"He settled in the town of Mezibuz, but he frequently traveled around the Jewish communities arousing souls with the elixir of Hassidism. Being a profound scholar in the revealed parts of the Torah, he gathered around him a circle of other brilliant Torah scholars to whom he taught the deepest parts of the Torah. He set their souls on fire, and they served G‑d with boundless joy and fervor. While enlightening the scholars, the Baal Shem Tov also lifted the spirit of common folk while entertaining them at his table and building their self-esteem."
So, what happened in between then and NOW?
