Tubishvat, ט"ו בשבט
Tu B'shvat
Tu Bi Shevat,
There are so many ways that one can spell this special day.
The 15th of the Hebrew month of Shevat is a very special day.
This year it starts on February 9th when the stars come out, and ends the next day when the stars reappear.
Rosh Hashana Lailanot- New Years for the trees.
Its the first day that the trees come out of their winter hibernation, and their growth cycle restarts.
We celebrate Tubishvat by eating lots of fruits, especially the 7 holy fruits of Israel- the Sheva Minim- wheat, barely, grapes, figs, pomegranates, olives, dates.
Ki Adam Etz Basadeh- כי האדם עץ השדה- Beacuse man is like a tree in the field. (Deuteronomy 20:19)
Wheat- Mainstay of human diet- Gdly soul
Barley- Typical animal food- Animal soul
staple of inner makeup
Appetizers+ Desserts that flavor/zest developing our 2 souls
Grapes- Joy- Revelation- we have the same feelings + personalities likes and silikes but much deeper and now exposed, and passionate
Talmud, "When wine enters, the concealed emerges."
if we are not serving Gd with joy, we are living a very shallow, egotistical and numb life. Some people think that this is the way to be Jewish- to not allow any happiness in, no excitement, no feelings, no passion, but that's why The Passionate Jew is here, to show you that REAL Judaism is PASSIONATE, HAPPY, and EMOTIONFUL.
